How can I optimize my hub connectivity?

Optimizing Your Hub Connection: Ethernet (Primary) and Cellular (Backup)

Your hub is designed for maximum reliability with two connection methods: a primary Ethernet connection and an automatic cellular backup. Understanding how they work together will ensure your system is always online.

1. Primary Connection: Ethernet Cable (Recommended)

For the fastest and most stable performance, we strongly recommend plugging your hub directly into your Wi-Fi router using the provided Ethernet cable: simply connect the Ethernet cable from the WAN port of the GlacierGrid Hub to the LAN port of your WiFi Router.

  • This connection uses your existing internet service.

  • It ensures your hub is always communicating at the highest possible speed.

  • This should be your main, day-to-day connection method.

2. Backup Connection: Cellular SIM Card

Your hub also contains an active cellular SIM card that serves as a powerful backup system.

  • How it works: If your primary internet service ever goes down (due to a local outage, a router issue, etc.), the hub will automatically and seamlessly switch to the cellular network.

  • The Benefit: This automatic failover ensures your system stays online and you never lose any critical data. Once your primary internet service is restored, the hub will automatically switch back to using the Ethernet connection.

In short: For the best performance, always keep the Ethernet cable plugged in. The cellular SIM is there to give you peace of mind, ensuring your system is always connected, no matter what.
