How do I manage the users in my dashboard?

This article will explain the different user types, and how to set up new users in your dashboard.

Users

Understanding user types

Users have distinct roles within the GlacierGrid dashboard. Each of these users will have their own unique email and password login. These roles are designed to streamline operations and ensure secure, role-appropriate access to dashboard features.

We have four user types:

  • Account owner: This role is typically assigned to the purchaser of the sensor, with comprehensive access to all product features, including the ability to add admins and viewers and set/modify alerts.
  • Admin: Admins enjoy full feature access, except for ordering additional sensors. They can add equipment, viewers and set/modify alerts but cannot add or delete account owners.
  • Manager: Designed for store-level personnel, Managers can perform temporary overrides directly from the app. However, they don’t have access to administrative controls like modifying permanent set points, editing alert configurations, or managing users.
  • Viewer: Viewers are restricted to dashboard viewing and report downloading. They cannot set alerts or add new users but can receive alerts.

User permissions key:

You may request specialized permissions for specific users that go beyond the permissions offered by our traditional user types. Follow this key for the specific permissions users can have beyond those offered by being a Viewer or Manager.

  • Admin: An admin who can also request permanent set point changes.
  • Super Admin: An admin who can also request permanent set point changes.
  • Operator: A super admin who can also know the thermostat unlock code.
  • Account owner: An operator who can also cancel the account, reduce the subscription, and change account ownership.

User addition: You can add as many users to the system as your company needs. There is no cap or charge for the number of users in the GlacierGrid dashboard. 

Add new Users: 

GlacierGrid Mobile App

If you are using the mobile app dashboard, please follow these steps:

  1. Login to your GlacierGrid Dashboard. 
  2. Select People on the bottom of your screen. 
  3. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner and click Add people.

  4. Select whether you want the new user to be contacted by email or text message.
  5. Fill in the user's name and email/phone number.

  6. Select if the user will be a viewer or an admin. An admin has abilities of viewers plus the ability to make edits in the dashboard.
  7. At this point, you can also assign the users to a team and add more users if you have multiple users you wish to add at once. Please note: The ability to invite multiple users at once is currently only available in the mobile app.
    1. Users cannot be directly assigned to a location. However, you can assign teams to a location, and all users on that team will be then assigned to that location. 
  8. Finally, click the blue Send button in the top right corner to send the invite out.

GlacierGrid Web App

If you are using the web app dashboard, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the People Screen using the menu on the left side of the screen.
  • Click the + Add button and select Add people

  • Select your invite delivery method and role, input the recipient’s email address or phone number, and configure any Teams if needed.
  • Click the blue Send Invite button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Tip: Input multiple email addresses/phone numbers if you wish to invite team members in bulk. 

Edit an existing User:

If you are using the mobile app dashboard, please follow these steps:

  • Login to your GlacierGrid Dashboard. 
  • Select People on the bottom of your screen. 
  • Select the user you want to edit

  • Click the pencil on the top right corner, you will be able to edit:
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Role
    • Teams
    • Alert notification methods.

  • Finally, click the blue Save button in the top right corner to save the changes.

GlacierGrid Web App

If you are using the web app dashboard, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the People Screen using the menu on the left side of the screen.

  • Use the People table to find the user you want to edit.

  • Click the overflow menu icon on the right side of the user and select edit.

  • Implement your desired edits

  • Click the blue Submit button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
