What is the past alerts log (Now Part of Issues)?

Understanding the New Past Alerts Log in GlacierGrid’s UI 2.0

What is the Past Alerts Log?

With the release of our new UI 2.0 dashboard, the Past Alerts Log has been reimagined as part of our more powerful and streamlined Issues experience. While the core purpose of the Past Alerts Log remains giving you visibility into alerts generated by your monitoring or energy systems, its location and structure have changed to better support users. Understanding this log is crucial for ensuring that your unit operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

What Information Does it Provide?

In the new version, the Past Alerts Log still gives you key information, but now it's contextualized within each Issue. Here's what you’ll see for each alert:

  • Timestamp: When the alert was generated.
  • Description: What triggered the alert (e.g. temperature threshold breach, device offline)
  • Recipients: Who received the alert notification.

This format keeps your alert history focused and relevant to the Issue at hand, improving clarity and helping you take action more effectively.

How Does it Help You?

The Past Alerts Log continues to be a powerful tool to support your operations:

  • Alert Tracking: Quickly identify who received what alert and when, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks..
  • Historical Context: Get a comprehensive view of all alerts related to a specific Issue, helping you analyze trends and troubleshoot recurring problems. For a broader look, you can still pull a "Sent Alerts Log" report from the Reports Screen on your dashboard.
  • Operational Efficiency: Now that alerts are nested within Issues, you can more easily prioritize and address problems based on impact, helping you stay focused on what matters most.

A Better Experience with Issues

With the new Issues feature, the Past Alerts Log is more actionable and tightly integrated into a broader problem-solving flow. A few things to note:

  • The Issues feature helps achieve a 1:1 relationship between real-world problems and what is shown in the GlacierGrid web app, reducing alert fatigue and helping you manage your assets in a more efficient manner.
  • Issue Configs define the conditions that trigger the creation of an Issue.
  • Bulk Configuration refers to the ability to create Issue Configurations at the Location and/or Equipment level. This allows for a more streamlined and efficient setup.
  • Connectivity by Device Type settings now give you more control across locations and equipment types.
  • Close Conditions help prevent premature Issue resolution by requiring normal conditions to persist before closing.
